PT Chita Agri Indonesia Strengthens Palm Oil Exports to Egypt Through Strategic Partnership
Jakarta – PT Chita Agri Indonesia Strengthens Palm Oil Exports to Egypt Through Strategic Trade Agreement
PT Chita Agri Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the export market for palm oil by successfully securing a strategic trade contract with Egypt’s palm oil processing and distribution company, Oleo Misr Co. This partnership is a concrete outcome of the trade mission to Egypt led by Arlinda, Director General of National Export Development, in 2017 and initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade.
Under the agreement signed on Tuesday (March 12) at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, PT Chita Agri Indonesia will supply 4,000–5,000 metric tons (MT) of palm oil per month to Oleo Misr Co., with a total contract value of US$30 million for the year 2019. This deal is expected to open up wider market opportunities in Egypt, which has shown a growing demand for Indonesian palm oil in recent years.
Machiko Nacih Surjadi, Director of PT Chita Agri Indonesia, who attended the MoU signing, expressed strong optimism regarding the export potential of palm oil to Egypt:
“The Egyptian market holds tremendous promise, and we are confident that this partnership will not only boost export volumes but also strengthen Indonesia’s position as a leading palm oil exporter in the region,” said Machiko.
She also emphasized the importance of collaboration facilitated by the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Palm Oil Board (DMSI) in opening access to global markets.
“This partnership is concrete proof of the joint efforts between the government and industry players to continue promoting Indonesia’s strategic commodities,” she added.
With Egypt’s population reaching 100 million people, the demand for palm oil products is projected to keep rising. This strengthens PT Chita Agri Indonesia’s position as one of the key players in Indonesia’s palm oil export sector. Moreover, Egypt is seen as a strategic hub for expanding palm oil product marketing to other African countries with significant market potential.
This trade agreement also marks an important step toward tapping into the derivative palm oil product market in Egypt. As a strategic partner, Oleo Misr Co. has expressed interest in importing a variety of downstream palm oil products from Indonesia, which can be processed into raw materials for various industries, including soap, shampoo, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.
With this achievement, PT Chita Agri Indonesia not only broadens its export reach but also contributes to increasing national foreign exchange earnings and strengthening trade relations between Indonesia and Egypt.
The signing of this MoU is a key milestone for PT Chita Agri Indonesia in its ongoing mission to expand its global market presence and demonstrate the international competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil products.
